Donnie offering $5,000 to every American if the Republicans win the mid-terms.

Even in Trumptonia that has to break electoral rules, sure?

Given that the national debt has already ballooned to $40tn under Trump thanks to his previous tax cuts for the rich, it doesn't seem prudent either.

And given it would have to be financed by borrowing increasing debt he's actually gioving them nothing. Just borrowing on their behalf so they can pay it back (with interest) at some point in the future. Sort of compulsory loan.

He will promise it but they won’t get it. Reps will have to win both chambers, so if they win one and very narrowly lose the other, no divi. The ‘promise’ may be enough to cut losses, without costing anything.

The part where the war would be over very soon after the elections, pinky promise, or the part where the GOP wins both houses?
My worry is that whilst we can see the prospect as yet more lies, just like we see the "I'm putting $5000 on your credit card so your can pay interest for years ..." as madness, the US electorate gave Trūmp a 2nd term despite his track record, obvious lies, etc. Just like "the Markets" they seem to believe anything that comes out of his mouth even when it's obvious lies and fantasy, but for some reason they suck it all up.

The markets don't believe anything that comes out of Donnie's mouth. They are very aware he is the TACO President.

Yet when Trūmp has declared "peace" oil prices drop only to increase next day when missiles start-up again. Trümp declared victory (again) and oil prices drop for a day or two until missiles flying again. Trǔmp declares Strait open again and oil prices drop until somebody in "the Markets" bothers to look at the AIS systems when oil price increases again.

The markets take advantage of Trump's pronouncements to make money.
