I mean, who could have guessed this is was his goal all along, and that the lying fucker was fucking lying at his confirmation hearings? This is the intersection of eugenics, fascism, and anti-science ignorance. One might naughtily observe that at least Nazis exploited their evil agenda to further science rather than to deny it (with all the moral difficulties that ensued from that).

Not true. Check up on "german science" and David Hilbert and the fate of physics and mathematics research at Götingen. There's a reason their nuclear program failed.

OK, thanks. I was thinking more about medical research at concentration camps, but maybe that's just urban myth, and was more like JFK Jnr's 'research'.

Hilbert’ s response to a question of Bernhard Rust, the Nazi Reich Minister for Science, Education, and Popular Culture, was typical. At a banquet in 1934 in Göttingen, Rust asked: “Is it really true, Mr. Professor, that your institute suffered so much from the departure of the Jews and their friends?” to which Hilbert replied, in his characteristic East Prussian dialect: “Suffered? No, it hasn’t suffered, Mr. Minister. It simply doesn’t exist anymore!”
This is a true story reported by different people. Göttingen, and Germany in general, had become the most important research centre for mathematics and theoretical physics in the world. The nazi obsession against relativity and quantum mechanics destroyed that completely. Sound familiar?
