Give up the disingenuous attempt at mischief making.

But while your on, can you tell me how that hymn is 'jingoistic'?

You alleged a 'pile on' and I asked you to evidence it. That you can't/won't is no great surprise.

The words of Spring Rice's poem 'The Two Fatherlands' are here. A definition of jingoism is here.

IMHO the first verse meets the definition; others can form their own opinion.

We've established Cry Macho's whingeing, joyless truculence works to kill threads without number; even an entire sub-forum.
It's edge of seat stuff to see whether it'll work to crash a whole site.

Another diddums who can't stand an alternative view.

So far as I can ascertain, a pile-on appears to be where more than one person holds a contrary position to a poster. A surprisingly sensitive approach for a discussion forum.

A pile on is when several posters attack one poster with snippy, dumb, off topic comments.

Most people don't care what the words mean, few know past the first line, I've just had enough of people trying to change stuff I see as my heritage.
When did all this start I wonder?

Progress has been progressing since we discovered how to master fire, plant seeds, and communicate with each other using abstract language.

Some see the value in well thought through 'progress'

Others are quite happy with things as they are, and would prefer them to stay the same.

Heritage, tradition, set interpretations of history become oppression by dead people in the end.

Your job wouldn't exist if it weren't for 'progress' that's happened in very recent years.

Funnily enough both of mine would.
They are both thousands of years old.

But their practice has evolved with time.

To reflect progress in human thought, and society.

Thankfully 'culture' has evolved alongside all this..

For some of us, at least.

It's not a particularly appealing place right now.

Could do with a few fairy lights, and some welcoming tea and biscuits imo.

Pretty sure calling people 'dumb'

Or even their comments 'dumb' is non conducive to civilised debate.

Still some folks just love to play the victim don't they ??

Several posters on here don't want a civilised debate, they are only interested in prosecuting their poxy long running feuds.

They can't moan if I occasionally give them what they want.

What would be the term when one poster attacks several posters with snippy, dumb, off topic comments?

We know how it works: threads the Mule doesn't like being derailed into endless exhibitions of the Mule's sensitivities.
What's your favourite colour, Eeyore?

(OK, so strictly speaking Eeyore was a donkey. Ed.)
