It is going to depend how broad it is, no? The UKs has some lower headline tarrifs, but it was scribbled hastily on the back of a serviette. I have a sneaking suspicion that the EU will have applied more rigour.

I thought this might be the case, but there seem to be very few positive comments being made about it by EU countries.

One possibility is that the EU knows it will take them a decade or so to ratify it as each country needs to agree, so Trump will be long gone by then, and all they really need to do is stop the imminent trade war.

Macron also seems to think it was a bad deal...I thought little old UK couldn't get good deals like the EU could?

Macron hasn't actually said anything at all, it is the French PM (which stands for "pointless minister", in France).

As Purple Helmet pointed out earlier, it may well be a moot point.

To be honest all of the EU politicians complaining about it is likely to make Trump think he's got away with one. Double bluff?

French PM says EU-US trade deal an act of 'submission' and a dark day for Europe
Isnt that typical Modus Operandi for the French government

A good enough deal considering the alternative i would call it. Having said that, Starmer did an better deal. Probably because the uk isn't part of the EU...

Or it could be because he's ended up with more colouration on his nose. I would be surprised if the (in)famous negotiating process the EU goes through would allow a long-termly terrible deal, unless the 'terrible deal' is what they want Trump to think it is, but that'll turn out OK in the end (or just be unravelled once he's gone).

I suspect that all of these 'trade deals' will end up being the starting point of endless detailed negotiations to hammer out details, as Mr Penguin suggests, and before anyone really signs anything 'definitive' Trump will be dead or so away with the fairies he'll be signing his name with the contents of his diapers.

Have the UK missed out on a great EU trade deal with the US?

Not really as neither have a trade deal. What they have is an agreement in principle with the details yet to be clarified.

They will still be paying tariffs to USA. USA has 0% tariff with the EU. Detail negotiations can continue as long as they like.

And I'm not entirely sure what Trump's principles will be next week. I suspect all sensible negotiators will be to 'agree' to something that makes the toddler think he's 'won', and make noises about how he's won, but get serious about any legally-binding documents. Just remembering David Davis turning up with no documents for his first negotiation with Barnier...

Probably not. Most likely explanation is that it's a bad deal.
