All the trade deals other than the Canadian one have been either matched or improved. In addition, other deals have been entered in to.

I asked Gemini "what's the value of trade deals the UK has done since brexit that would not have happened without brexit?"

This is not the point I responded to. It was claimed that the UK would not, due to its size, be able to improve trade deals. This has clearly been shown to be incorrect.

You can, of course, argue that the upside from these improvements does not compensate for the loss of trade with the EU, but that is a different point.

An interesting thread on the 'softness' of the pro-rejoin polling...

https://skywriter.blue/@steveakehurst.bsky.social/3my7o533gvc2r

My overall read is is if you offered people the chance to be *back in EU tomorrow on exactly same terms as before* you'd probably get a majority. But it's the gap between that and reality where softness lies. Opinion is in fluid and there to be won by either side imo. In the interim, i'd be suspicious of any topline polling on a subject most ppl aren't thinking of much. There's also lots that needs looking at on electoral politics of a Lab Rejoin offer. eg does it encourage tactical voting on right; is it a trump card vs SNP/Plaid in Scotland/Wales or no, etc.

But also needed to be takein into account is that the UK is not paret of the trade deals the EU has been making. Might surprise some but the EU hasn't been sitting around mourning their loss of the UK

eg EU-Australia, EU-India, EU-Mercosur (Southern Common Market, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay & Uruguay, with Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Peru, and Suriname as associates and Venezuela (suspended)), EU-Indonesia, EU-Chile, EU-Mexico. Plus those currently being negotiated .....

You call out headline writers and other journos you dislike for poor wording but have ignored this awful word mash:
Opinion is in fluid

Noticed, but, like X, Bluesky posts aren't editable. I left it as is in my quote.

In any case, I would have thought you'd have expected me to dislike this thread-writer, as he's suggesting that support for Rejoin isn't as strong as I'd like.

Weird thing is, if we really did lose any sovereignty to other EU states, we also gained some sovereignty over those same EU states.
Which benefits a small "club" of politicians who are often very devoid of reality, and that's why in western countries like Germany, the Netherlands etc. a Nexit or Gerxit would have just as much of a chance to work as the Brexit referendum had i the uk.

Screaming "the EU is great" ignoring all it's fault or worse double down on mistakes and dig the hole deeper like the EU has done after Brexit doesn't solve these issues it just makes the inevitable more devastating.

Or like they say these days "they don't want to give that opinion a platform" Which highlights right away the weakness of that approach. Then there is also the point that if you post the same thing on X, instastory thingy and fakebook you often get totally different responses.
