Graham Linehan Acquitted of Harassment in High-Profile Trans Activism Case
On November 25, 2025, British-Irish comedy writer Graham Linehan—best known as the co-creator of the hit sitcom Father Ted—was found not guilty of harassing transgender activist Sophia Brooks at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London. The verdict came after a three-day trial in September and October, marking a significant moment in ongoing debates over free speech, gender identity, and online activism

I have found as a rule that the majority of people who bang on about free speech are those that have something hateful to say.
Using 'free speech' to whip up hatred and violence against anyone you disagree with especially gay, trans, people of colour, other religions, people with disabilities and other political opinions (within reason for the last one).

You can criticise but whipping up hatred is where the line is drawn.

I have found the vast majority of people demanding 'free speech' are exactly how you've painted them there.

IMHO, on any social media or internet group that isn't actually based on hate DOES have the right to tell people what they can't say (type) and if the recipient doesn't like it, he/she can always start their own internet group based on those lines. Who wants to join (for arguments sake) a forum for yachting or knitting or whatever, to be faced with some bigot telling everyone their views on race or sexuality?

(I would have preferred to just post the video, rather than the tweet, but couldn't find it on YouTube. I don't really like these things framed for me.)

From Drea's Facebook page: "I hurt people’s feelings with facts for a living."

With a tagline like: "I hurt people's feelings with facts for a living" and working for Rebel News (which is "widely considered to be far-right and has been associated with anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant rhetoric, climate change denial, and COVID-19 misinformation, and has given a platform to several controversial figures, including Gavin McInnes, founder of the Proud Boys, a designated hate group") Humphrey probably looks for reactions, including childish ones, to increase the entertainment value of and extra clicks, on her videos.

Sounds a bit DARVO.

Except nobody is denying anything.

Any comment on what she was saying, or do you have other messengers to shoot?

I make no attempt to comment on what she says other than to put it in the context of her MO where her aim is "to hurt people's feelings with facts" and say that different people react differently to hurt feelings. Yes, the protest is childish and that is probably what she is looking for...it sells to the people she is looking to sell to.

I don't make up my mind on issues based on biased, curated videos from whatever extreme of the political spectrum. There are plenty of sites that show videos of people from the right and left being shown to be idiots by shock jock commentators. They are evidence of nothing other than that people can be idiots.
