Just add it to the list of things CXR forgot understand. It is no wonder he is such easy prey for Trump and the populists. I just wish he'd have a moment of self-awareness, but its just too much to ask.

A bright mind would notice that the reactions Trump stirs in people and the responses he gives are based on emotion not rational thought. This is deliberate. Emotional responses are basic. Analytical thought is not. It means responses are reactive rather than pondered.

Starmer has no backing whatsoever of the British youth to go and fight in a foreign war.
Yet when the UK responded to the US invoking NATO Article 5, we didn't quibble about need, didn't consult popularity polls. We honoured our treaty to the full extent, helping the US without hesitation. Interesting that that was the only time NATO Article 5 has ever been invoked by any member.

Different time, there is not the allegiance anymore. No one will go to war for Starmer

Well clearly you won't as you are a yellow bellied conchie as my dearly departed grandfather would have said.
Luckily for you, I suspect that conscientious objectors would still be allowed to avoid conscription provided that they could justify this to a tribunal as they did in WW2.

Peaceful man Pete Hegseth, the apparent Dalai Lama of the administration on China...

"Well, we're prepared. Those who long for peace must prepare for war,' the 44-year-old responded on Fox & Friends.

Peaceful man Hegseth claimed 'that's why we're rebuilding our military."

Words spoken only by a peaceful man, quoting from a Roman general and not at all interested in starting a war over the other side of the globe...

I wish you well in the trenches, keep you head down, you may be one of lucky ones to come home with only PTSD and all limb still attached.

Such an awful statement made by a tragically sad man.

If you think going to war is a walk in the park, say so.

The reality is, it will forever change a person, not for the good. The trauma will haunt them probably for the rest of their life

The only person threatening war is Putin. Putin invaded Ukraine, Putin has kidnapped children, murdered families and is continuing to bomb hospitals, hotels and schools. You don't say a great deal about that.

I very much doubt you know Jack shït about war time trauma and I highly doubt you ever will. It would be a good idea not to use that in company of those who have experienced that, for you own good...

Both of those things are true. People don't go to war for kicks and giggles. They go because it is needed. They fight to ensure that their families have a future, that their children are protected etc. You don't wait for an aggressor to get to your front door in the hope that they go away.

No sane person hopes for war, or entertains the possibility of being involved in one. If it is necessary to become involved then that is what happens. People do what is needed.

There's more to it than that.

Without preparedness to go to war there is no such thing as defence.
