Im hoping given a little time, these women will have their medals awarded to them.

I know it's never going to be the same as being awarded the medal there and then, but one day, when the IOC realises the massive error and dis service they had done to these women and many others knocked out of qualification lower down the sporting levels

That would be the fairest outcome; give those women the medals they deserve.

Meanwhile the Crown Prosecution Service were busy trolling women today, telling us this is a female crime. They deleted it after getting Community Noted.

Following on from the IOC announcement of swab testing for Y chromosome.

This testing will be also conducted down through to national level sporting bodies.

This is an excellent step and should be applied to youth sports to align a young sports person with their correct sex category

It wouldn't be practical to start testing kids at the hockey and rugby clubs where I coach. Aside from the expense, we are about inclusivity more than anything else.

As former players (at national/regional level) we all know enough to recognise when someone is getting dangerously big/quick and shuffle them around accordingly, explaining why to both the child and their parent(s).

Obviously I can only speak for where I'm involved and I'm fully aware that other clubs aren't run the same.

There still seems to be a lot of people, including the Guardian who want blokes in women's sport.

Over 100 human rights, sports and scientific groups, including the United Nations, have criticised the International Olympic Committee’s new gender eligibility guidelines as “a blunt and discriminatory response that is not supported by science and violates international human rights law”.

It's an important and worthwhile conversation, but this is the key sentence for me:

"Of the tens of thousands of athletes who have participated in Olympic events since 1999, just one has identified as a transgender woman – Laurel Hubbard of New Zealand. She did not place in her event."

Which makes it pretty clear that despite what some folk would like you to believe, there isn't a massive trans led invasion in sport, or anywhere.

Of course it would, it's a simple mouth swab test.

Reluctance comes from not wanting clarity for those who want to participate in the wrong sex sport

So for those who are suspect, which you highlight as few, testing would clarify their situation.

Do it young and issues down the line are eliminated

The majority of the kids I coach are under 12, though I do have higher age groups.

We don't have the facility to swab them, and if we did it would be an absolute nightmare on several levels.

Nobody is "suspect", we just recognise development and changes in physique and ability.

You wouldn't conduct the swab tests. A person from a regulated sporting body would undertake the task.

Straightforward, just like any other basic testing, urine, blood test, in fact even easier as it doesn't involve any privacy concerns

Are yous absolutely sure yous want to be swab testing kids playing rugby to prove to you that they are girls?

Are you sure you're comfortable selecting girls who are 'suspect' for testing?

I don't think that's been suggested.

I think the rules are for elite level sport. It's slightly disingenuous of the Guardian to report that there has only been 1 transwoman competitor as if everything else was fine. There have been multiple concerns about female athletes with DSDs or similar that might have an unfair advantage.

Your asking the wrong people.

You should be asking the girls do you want a simple swab test to prove you're competing with only girls.

Frankly after a few years, no boys will be requesting to play, because the word will be out fully.
