Maybe it has use as a broad indicator if one considers the question those polled may have been answering. Few will appreciate the impact of tariffs as it becomes very complex (different sectors doing different value if exports, etc.).Great idea. Let's do really complex foreign affairs by opinion polls asking really dumb questions with no context of what chain of events this might lead to.

I mean. FFS. Might as well ask if we should nuke the White House "to voice our displeasure in no uncertain terms".

I suspect the question people were answering was more towards "Should the UK take a firmer response towards US economic threats?". (might have been more useful to ask a more sensible question).
Different countries facing these latest tariffs will be affected very differently eg a lot of UK business to the US is services that are not subject to tariffs.

It’s strange that the patriotic Reform voters are least likely to support such action.
So Brian thinks a YouGov poll is governing by opinion poll.....
Did the Government commission the poll?
Almost certainly not.
Are other organisations, or indeed polling companies themselves not allowed to canvas opinions?
Brian you voted for this government. If this Government are that swayed by an opinion poll, you only have yourself to blame.

I think the more concerning part is they do know, it's just that the interest of those who sponsor them are a bit of a higher priority.Perhaps, they are the most sensible group?
I don't actually think that by the way.
Governments (present and previous) have absolutely no idea what "the public" think (or even IF they think). IMHO

All these things can be true. International relationships can often be fraught at the best of time, but I'm pretty sure that the professionals have never had to deal with someone quite as far gone down the dementia journey calling all the shots via social media.

FWIW, here's a comment from Paul Krugman about Bessent - it's opportunists like him who might be opportunistic in other ways, given the right motivation, unlike the zealots.
