Why Iran is not like its neighbours Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Yes, I asked what you would like to compare. For example, you could compare the percentage of women with a university education. That's a very easy to verify stat.

Or you could look at random other things such as the number of women dying their hair blonde or owning short dresses. Those stats are less easily available.

It's up to you what comparison you would want to make, but there is very little in common between Iran and Pakistan/Afghanistan.

Of course they did - because they are a vicious and abhorrent fundamentalist Islamic authoritarian state. They hang gay men and female rape victims for the same reason they oppose drugs. They (Shiite Iran) opposed the (Sunni) Taliban out of ideology and self serving interests, just like they now cooperate on some issues out of self serving interests.

I'm going to infer you have never been to Iran.

I'm going to infer that you think that Iran having a high number of female stem graduates mitigates women having sweet fa rights in comparison to men. In fact, it's allowed only because they need the workers, especially in health, and women's education and work operates in a highly controlled and segregated manner.

I don’t disagree with your assertion that Iranians are a sophisticated society. They have a high pedigree in literature, arts, cuisine and pluralism.

Persian culture has greatly shaped Afghanistan, Pakistan and North India. So, your assertion that Iran is not like the other two is incorrect.

Where you are correct, is that Iran has less in common with the Arabs. A shared religion aside, Iranians view Arabs as distinctively different.

Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan have all suffered terribly in the last 40+ years due to the same/overlapping geopolitical factors. The increasing Islamification of these countries, a regressive step, was a response to external forces.

The shared cultural basis with Pakistan and Afghanistan is true. But, socially, both Pakistan and Afghanistan are islamic fundamentalist societies, Iran isn't, much to the chagrin of the mullahs.

Indeed. I admit, I wasn't in favour before watching this piece of shite give his speech, but, even if it was a declared, legal war (which it is not, to the best of my knowledge), to gloat so openly about the death of fellow humans (even if they are "the enemy"), is unforgivable. IMHO.
