Its interesting that people are so myopic they ignore or condone human rights abuses on a vast scale , because that side is the enemy of their own enemy.
It is interesting that action is only taken when those countries have oil.

What's the wife beating reference about?
He will just tell them to buy US oil...But Trūmp's blockade is going to be the bigliest, most powerful, most impressive, mightiest that the world has ever seen. Whereas Iran's was only "effective".
One aspect Trūmp may have overlooked is that his blockage will be stopping oils and critical resources getting to China and India which will pïss them off and US is just a bit dependent on China ...
If you talk long enough there's always someone to blame for someone else's actions, however just looking ta the current period, Hamas grew at the expense of the PLO / Arafat, both Iran and Isreal(as Isreal funded Hamas and armed Hamas too as recent is 2017) made this happen. But the other fractions Iran sponsored and have destabilized the region have nothing to do with Isreal and or events to go down many years to justify it.Fair point; however some of those on your list arguably only exist as a reaction to Israel's incursions into territories that don't belong to them.
Iran may have bolstered the capabilities of these groups, but Israel gave them the incentive.

I don't quite understand this...
the Iranians where/are, blocking the Straits of Hormuz, because, it weakened the west, possibly at a cost to themselves, but, at a cost they felt they could withstand.
Now, Trump is going to "punish" Iran by blocking the Starits of Hormuz with his very expensive, high-tech USA Navy vessels, (presumably, putting them in range of Iranian missiles, drones etc), to "punish" the Iranians
So Trump is going to be doing the Iranian's "job" for them, at USA's risk and USA's expense.
Does anyone else "get" this, because, I don't.
This is a bit tiresome. I will just post here something that a couple of actual victims of the islamic regime wrote

And a reply to the predictable why do you defend the islamic republic comment

Now, have you stopped beating your wife yet?
Who has condoned human rights abuses?
I can’t think of any one here.
But I do expect better from our allies than our enemies. And we should hold them to a higher standard.
You are still playing one against the other - all abuses of human rights are wrong.
Why can you not condemn all abuses of human rights?
The answer appears to be clear that people are not interested in human rights but use it as a stick to beat their "enemy" and ignore it when their "enemies "enemy breach those human rights
Sadly people are so "tribal" they can't bring themselves to criticise those who oppose their enemy
I think it's not as black and white as Trūmp thinks or as blocked or unblocked.deed - baffling even by recent increasingly surreal standards. On the face of it
"Unblock it, damn you!"
Iran: yawn
"Ok then, I'M BLOCKING IT!"
This is real Alice in Wonderland stuff. How do you block something that is already blocked?
And that's before we even think about whys, hows, all that...
It wasn't fully blocked, Islamic regime were deciding who to let through and forcing payment off others.Indeed - baffling even by recent increasingly surreal standards. On the face of it
