Happy new year everyone!

In the spirit of the Hootenanny, what are your predictions for 2026?

A trump assassination?
Majority control of the Senate and Congress going to the Democrats?
An exit for Keir Starmer?
A proper investigation into Houchen and the Tees Freeport?
Andy posting something sane?

I would quite like Reform to disintegrate.
Labour to get a grip and actually do something useful.
And the Tory’s to grow up and be a responsible party again.
Basically we need to sensible politicians back in the driving seat. Too much time is being diverted to Reform.

1. Starmer and Reeves will be forced.out by their own party and replaced by figures further to the left who will find out the hard way that you can't face down the bond markets and print money indefinitely when borrowing becomes too expensive.

2. The majority view on this forum will be that the ensuing problems for the country will be the fault of Farage, Trump, Tommy Robinson, Tories and Putin.

3. Along with most people who try and predict the future I will be wrong.

Hope it's 3!

Despite terrible local elections, Starmer will cling on because Reform will not win as well as polls suggested.

The war in Ukraine will drag on. Trump will get bored and move on to Gaza real estate and stealing natural resources in South America and the Arctic.

Trump will lose both houses.

There will be several freak weather events and average temperatures will be one of the highest on record but not quite the highest, proving the climate hoax.

Ideally something extremely painful and very debilitating happens to Trump, Putin and Netenyahu, but that would be beyond wishful thinking.

Trump will lose both Houses were there to be no election inferference. But now they have the levers of power, the group behind Project 2025 will already be putting into place plans to ensure that lessons have been learned from the mistakes made previously.

Fagash is regularly called out by the media for being a racist, freeloader tw@t.

Child 2 secures the house she wants and ends the year much healthier and happier than it is at the start of the year.

Wondering more about what I'd like to happen rather than trying to predict what will happen.

Maybe the biggest improvement that could happen is if politicians just stopped lying. We seem to have got to a point where blatant lies are irrefutably exposed within seconds yet it makes no difference and more of the same are fed to us next sentence.

Without the lies so many other issues could be addressed maybe as they would have to be acknowledged and once acknowledged failure to act becomes apparent.

As annual migration numbers come (down as they clearly are) I predict more disputing of the figures. Farage is too adept to say it outright but the meaning will be 'how can migration be coming down when there's so many brown people'?

His problems will be holding together a coalition who can't agree on who 'shouldn't be here' (some voices on his own right feel unrestrained now).

How far can he go?
