Trump and Netanyahu are currently holding a press conference to detail a peace process which Hamas haven’t even seen yet.

I’d love it to work, but I’m unsure what they are even proposing, and if it’s workable.

I'd like to see the details but Trump saying that he supports Netanyahu to do anything he has to is more than a tad worrying.

I've now seen 7 of the 20 point plan. Those 7 seem fair enough and were expected. The other 13 though? 🤔
Not sure about this part either. Main objective to be the Peace prize or Trump Tower? Or both? 🤔

"It also includes a "board of peace" to oversee the proposal's implementation, headed by Trump, who says former British Prime Minister Tony Blair also wants to participate"

It's a ridiculous proposal, which is once again to be so unpalatable to Hamas that they'll reject it and Israel will continue destroying Gaza with impunity.

I hope the plan gets accepted by all sides and, if so, good job by the US. However, the cynic in me thinks it will include things they know Hamas won't agree to so that they turn it down and it can be used as an excuse by Israel to go in and finish the job of destroying Gaza and expanding into the rest of Palestine.

Peace would be great except already worrying signs eg different parties interpreting the rather vague document very differently.

eg despite reports saying The plan says that all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, will be suspended during the [hostage] release process and battle lines will remain frozen until “conditions are met for the complete staged withdrawal”.

Benjamin Netanyahu says the IDF ‘will remain in most of the territory’
In a video statement published on his Telegram channel discussing his visit to the US, Benjamin Netanyahu said the IDF “will remain in most of the territory” as part of the plan drawn up with Trump, and that Israel did “absolutely not” agree to a Palestinian state.

And I worry that this "Board of Peace" headed by two people (Trump & Blair) who have made their position of unequivocal support of Israel very clear.

There seems a fair ambiguity about a Palestinian State in that many arab countries statements seem to be assuming this is the start of a full Palestinian state process whereas Israel seems to be sticking to "that will never happen".

Given Israel's past track record I worry Hamas might require assurances somewhat beyond those being presented and need details not specified (eg does "at some future time" mean in 1 month or 1 decade?). Will Israel honour amnesty for Hamas officials who lay down their arms or will there be assassinations in whatever 3rd country they move to (with nobody admitting responsibility or even people recognising the flags painted on the sides of the F-15s dropping their bombs)?

As ever the devil will be in the details. Donald doesn't do details. 😢

Edit:- Does this mean Netanyahu has already pulled out of the plan?

I agree but would add that establishing those details will take some negotiation, time and back and forth and Trump also isn't very patient and Netanyahu probably very happy to string it out and push how Hamas are not agreeing to the deal.

Meanwhile, to further demonstrate UK Government's attitude to Israel
The value of UK arms imported by Israel reached a record high in June this year, exclusive FactCheck analysis of Israeli customs data shows.

The UK government announced in September 2024 that it was suspending 29 licences to export arms to Israel which it believed “might be used in serious violations of International Humanitarian Law”. Some 350 licences remain active, of which over 160 are listed as “military”.

Cynic in me might think UK Arms Manufacturers will be seeking UK Government "assistance" if peace deal happens.

The one detail Donald did was a 72 hour deadline. Can't see negotiations happening in that time scale.

But what will he do in 72 hours. Allow Israel to do their worst - but they are already doing that.

I can't see anything he can do in 72 hrs (that isn't already being done).
