I see the Bank of England has let it be known that it will not hesitate to act while doing nothing at all. K-K is going to make an emergency statement in 8 weeks time. The markets are going to love this....

Given that this was a predicted result by many economists, who stands to gain?

Who's betting against the pound this time?

For the moment, it will likely be the same people who have already profited from shorting the pound, thinking there's more money still to be made. If the BoE or the Canceller of the Exchequer don't come up with something resembling coherence soon, it will probably be the same people plus the majority of FX traders who will gain. The pound rallied slightly this afternoon with traders expecting the BoE to raise rates. When it didn't act, the pound restarted its downward trajectory. And that's where we are now.

Have any of our government's supporters popped up to defend this utter shoot show yet?
This venal party are ripping the guts out of the country, making themselves and their donors richer while tanking the economy and making pretty much everyone else poorer, anyone wanna tell us they voted for this?

All those red wall voters who chose Johnson and Brexit over Corbyn and socialism....doubt there feeling good about it now.

Virgin are playing a waiting game, pulling all products. Seems it depends on how the disaster unfolds on what they might offer late in the week.

Risk assessment.

It’s a worrying time , paid my mortgage off back in 2016, however we moved and started again 3 yrs ago! So watching this closely . Luckily we don’t have big mortgage, however the interest rates forecast don’t scare me too much , I’ve been there before when 6% was the norm. Wonder what savings rates will do ?

Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
We're extremely fortunate that we just agreed a new fixed rate over the summer. A couple of months later and I don't know how we'd have managed. At least for now we're merely farked, rather than absolutely farking farked.

Don’t tell any one at the Mail that the bankers bonuses have just been uncapped. They’ll blow a fuse.
