I can see why she refused to be interviewed by Andrew Neil in her leadership campaign.

She can repeat mantras, but not think on her feet. I suspect she will be kept away from really challenging interviewers during her leadership.

You could get 5/1 on Johnson returning.

I get the impression they thought a round of local radio interviews would be easy. I think they completely underestimated that these BBC journalists have all be well trained and we’re almost harder to deal with than the usual political interviewers, who have to make concessions if they want access in the future.

And one of her mantras is either a lie or the product of wrongheaded incompetence - she told Nottingham (I think it was), and probably repeated it elsewhere, that people would not have to pay more than £2,500 on their fuel bills. That is clearly not true: that figure is the average. Big, wasteful households or poorly insulated houses, and elderly or ill patients needing extra warmth will find themselves paying above the average.

I wouldn't expect her to correct her lies/incompetence though.

The "Energy price cap" is widely miss-understood, including by Ms Truss, it would appear. Abandon hope, all ye who live here.

its either that or a vote of no confidence from the tories in their own leader again

Even the Tories are not so stupid that they will do that again in a hurry. It would just look like an admission of failure and panic. Not what voters would vote for.

It is appalling. Needs a clear message from government on what the cap means and how it works. Clear enough for Truss to understand it would probably work for the whole country as well.
