Fascinating to have Hunt, having just had the finest example of Brexit, in Truss and Kwarteng.
Now will they try to flush Brexit down the ubend?
Looks like an attempt to reach across to the less ERG side of the fence plus calm markets with an experienced cabinet minister.
Designed, I image not because Truss wants to, but to try to keep her in No10.
Hunt probably has nothing to lose. If she clings on, he is Chancellor, if not then he won't be her chancellor long enough for the stench of her failure to be on him. Plus it makes him look good - he is taking a tough job for the sake of the party / country and all that BS.
It is an amazing few weeks. TheIEA / Minford slash and burn free market ideologues have been banging on about their brand of economics being the "true way" for years. We have had to listen to their crap for years as they get wheeled onto TV panels etc. Yet within 2 weeks of trying to put some of this in practice, the very markets they worship kick them in the proverbials in no uncertain terms. Why do we listen to these charlatans?
