The population of the City of New York grew 2024/2025 and is around the same as in 2018. New York City (like other major cities) lost population during the COVID pandemic. Since WWII NYC has not just survived bankruptcy, drug and crime waves and pandemic but gone on to thrive.

It is one of only two cities classed as Alpha++ status - meaning it is one of the most economically, culturally and physically globally connected places on earth. The other city with this status is London. Funny how right wingers seem to despise both places - it seems very unpatriotic to be hating on places that are global icons for their own countries.

We even get them in Newcastle! Which is a little surprising: as much as I love the city and its surroundings, you could probably cover all your cultural bases in two or three days.
