I'm not sure what mechanism there is for his party or the opposition to force him out.

He ceases to be PM if he no longer has the confidence of the House. The opposition force a no conf vote and he loses

He ceases to be Party leader if he's challenged to a leadership contest by a challenger who has the backing of 20% of MPs (81)

Can the opposition force a no confidence vote given Labour's majority?
I presume some would have to break ranks.

In further answer to @Shortfall from several days ago and having heard from Starmer
I do believe his version of events, but his version of events doesn't help him other than avoiding the immediate resignation.

I may change my mind after Robbins has his turn, but I suspect he's going to confirm Starmer didn't know about the failed vetting

He can say that but David Maddox the political editor of the Independent had months previously asked Downing Street to confirm rumours that Mandelson had failed the vetting and had ran a story on it. It's almost inconceivable (to me at least) that Starmer wasn't aware of this or hadn't been tipped the wink by someone and it makes "the dog ate my homework" look like a cast iron excuse by comparison. There's also the matter of him failing to correct the record at the first opportunity when he misled parliament be it deliberately or unknowingly and his attacks on Boris Johnson for similar behaviour are returning to haunt him now. If we weren't living in Clown World he would have already resigned but I underestimated his complete lack of shame.

There's also the fact that he pushed the appointment through before the vetting had concluded, so how can he stand up in parliament and say he wouldn't have appointed him if he knew he'd failed the vetting if he didn't allow time for the vetting TO fail? The implication is that he just didn't care either way and all that mattered was getting the paedophile's friend in post.

As has been said before, the only people who have cropped up in the Epstein files to face consequences seem to be Brits. Now it looks like Brits with indirect connections may get brought down whilst Trump continues to deflect with actions costing thousands of levels and massive economic damage.

Exactly, not forgetting the actual brother of the King of England!

Is Mandy’s connection with Epstein his ONLY risk factor? Doesn’t it just add to the list?

Sure but it was ultimately his involvement with Epstein that has resulted in the current shitstorm. It was the final nail in the coffin of his own career which then highlighted the security issues threatening to bring down Starmer.
