Shock horror, its warmer down there.

And the earths heat is considered to be an unlimited energy source, as current estimates suggest the core will not cool before the Sun explodes.
Surely we should be making a bigger effort to tap that as source of energy.

Posh sandwich has more salt than nearly five cheeseburgers

Yes folks. It turns out that a Chicken Caesar Club from Gails has more salt than 5 McDonalds cheeseburgers.
It's just astonishing that a sandwich containing bacon and caesar salad dressing made with a slightly salty bread contains more salt than some beef and something pretending to be cheese in a dismal bun.

In other news, the Pret ham and Greve cheese baguette is also salty due to the ham and er... cheese. The same is true for the Paul Rosette salami and gherkin roll.

Other astonishing discoveries are that the Pret Chicken sandwich has more salt than the Greggs one, or that M&S probably put more meaty filling in their all day breakfast sandwich than Sainsbury.

Action on Salt and Sugar urged people to consider buying sandwiches that don't contain salty cured meats or cheeses because it's a slow news day.

The main information from this is that it is safe for me to have 5 cheese burgers then?

They've not thought their acronym through...

Which reminds me of the time I did some work for a now defunct assisted travel group round here. here.

Their title before I got involved was Tyne and Wear Assisted Travel, which is spot on really, until the acronym kicks in...

I still remember the three (genuine) misfires on website addresses, powergenitalia (Italian generation company), whorepresents (democracy advocacy), and penisland (an island named 'Pen'). You really do have to think these things through.

What about the Cambridge university netball team.
(I’m sure they aren’t called this really)

Findtherapist was another well known gaffe. There's loads that are too rude to mention.

Slightly off topic but I'm going to add what seems to be a poor quality headline from the Beeb:~-

Woman, 21, described as 'perfect in every way' after Australia crash death

I can't help thinking that it's ambiguous and the description was about her before the car crash. I'm not sure that the crash made her perfect in every way as is implied...

I'm still waiting for the equivalent

"Person, xx described as dislikeable peanut following <verb> death".

https://metro.co.uk/2026/05/26/uk-g...-three-day-working-week-next-year-2-28522684/

This basically happens almost every year. The only time it wouldn’t happen is when Christmas Day is a Friday.

Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2027 take place over a weekend. That means that, because Saturday and Sunday are, obviously, already days off, the bank holiday dates shift to Monday, December 27 and Tuesday, December 28.

For employees, that’s four full days off in a row, only returning to work for three days in the interim between Christmas and New Year’s.
It even works for Fridays...

In shock news, in 2026 Christmas Day fell on a Thursday. That means that because Saturday and Sunday are, obviously already days off, you get four full days off in a row, only returning to work for three days in the interim between Christmas and New Year.

Completely different to 2027 where Christmas falls on a Friday which means that you get four full days off in a row because Saturday and Sunday are, obviously already days off, only returning to work for three days in the interim between Christmas and New Year.
