I very much like to think of my living room as a canvas for moments of togetherness, as stories are woven and there are stolen glances over the ever growing boxes of car parts, bits of bikes, and piles of clothes which wait to see who cracks first and takes them upstairs.

Ah, do you live with someone with ADHD too?

I like the agreement they have that car parts and bike bits belong in the bedroom and not in the lounge.

My bike stuff is all in the shed.

No, we just have a lot of stuff stored in the living room at the moment for various reasons like decorating and ebay selling. We did have a couple of the bikes inside but we got fed up of that and had a clear out to move them. I don't buy much stuff, like literally next to nothing clothes and home wares wise, so the possessions are gradually reducing. Got rid of 3 bikes this year and 3 bookcases and the books in them. Still got loads of books to go. You can't keep everything.

You've got an upstairs.?!?! Now there's posh 👌🏼

I wouldn't mind downsizing to a funky bungalow but it would require a Swedish death clean of epic proportions.

I feel your pain..
Spent two hours tidying the office this avo.

Still another 4 hrs at least to go -
But looking forwards to composting all pre 2017 paperwork. 🙏🏼

Gotta tiny 'howse' but a rather large barn rather full of farming c@rp... Much of which only gets used twice a year, if that often.. 🤔

I've never been a big consumer in terms of buying loads of personal things, clothes, or house stuff. It's more that the hobbies have got out of hand re the books, the bikes, the musical instruments. Could have genuinely opened a small book shop at one point I think.

I've given up feeling bad about books, and acquiring more - yes I know ones that I'll likely only half finish..

But if you arrange em right they make very handy side tables, and of course, afford excellent insulation for walls 😇

I just stumbled across this lovely prose on Rightmove.
I think that they are either drunk or they’ve been using ChatGBT, as whilst it’s a perfectly nice property is only a 2 bedroom bungalow in SE London

.
“Nestled within a tranquil enclave, this enchanting 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalow stands as a testament to timeless beauty and meticulous care. From the moment you set foot through the gate, a sense of awe envelopes you, as the impeccable condition of this residence beckons you closer.

The bungalow, thoughtfully extended to capture the essence of a sunlit sanctuary, boasts an ethereal sitting/dining room that basks in the gentle caress of sunlight. With walls adorned in hues that mirror the warmth of a summer's embrace, this space is a canvas for moments of togetherness and laughter, where stories are woven over shared meals and stolen glances.

Step further, and you'll find a haven of rejuvenation - a shower room, a testament to both practicality and sophistication. A symphony of functionality and style, it's a retreat where each detail has been chosen with discerning care, invoking a sense of serenity with every visit.

Two resplendent double bedrooms stand as private sanctuaries, each a haven of rest and tranquility. Their design embraces both form and function, offering a seamless blend of comfort and aesthetics, ready to cradle dreams and create mornings filled with promise.

The heart of this home lies in the spacious lounge, a gateway that leads to the captivating sitting/dining room. As you step across the threshold, the seamless flow between these spaces becomes evident, a testament to the thoughtful design that allows conversations to drift effortlessly from room to room, creating an ever-present sense of connection.

As you venture outside, the boundaries between nature and design blur into a symphony of botanical wonder. The stunning mature garden invites you to explore its secrets, an orchestra of colors and scents that dance with the wind. A garage stands as a sentinel, offering both storage and utility, while ample parking for three vehicles welcomes loved ones and visitors alike.”

We have a local agent who specialises in similarly overblown neo-parodies of estate agent speak.

Wow, either you or your partner must be very accommodating. With the exception of two small windows which I smuggled into the loft, my car parts are either in the garage or the shed. - Apart from a door which is partially hidden by a water butt.

We've had a car door at the bottom of the garden for years. I've decided to treat it as a feature for now. I'm gradually selling off the spares and would like to get down to zero. We like to follow the advice given in The Goldbergs TV show - 'The secret of a happy marriage is mutual not giving a cr*p'. It works. We've been very, very happy. He's great.
