You obviously do not agree with Ricky Gervais on the real subject of black humour.

If you don't, no problem, I'll explain it. The subject of the first quote was Andy's admiration of people working closely with millionaires, and not the tasks they do. The subject of the second was again his hero-worship of US millionaires and the fact he thought it was a plus to be allowed to ride in one of their Bentleys.

I never even considered Ricky's views, as much as I find him amusing. I just have this thing about playing the ball, not the man, and, not descending to the level of your opponent.

Unsure. I see it as an effective way to get rid of these parasites, to put them, in their rockets and send them off to some distance planet so we're rid of them forever.

But Bezos is showing no signs of seeking his fortune on Pluto so maybe taxing him or his companies, even just a tiny bit is a good plan B.

Musk is keen on boldly profiting where no man has profited before, but sadly seems disinclined to go there in person.

Isn't the answer 42, as discovered by Arthur Dent? 🙂

It's far better than waiting to die on minimum pension
Is it? Really?

All the pensioners I know have a lovely time. Going for bike rides when they want, doing a bit of part time work, meeting up with friends, going to garden centres, taking up new hobbies etc. I don't know a single pensioner that wishes they were working 60 hours a week.

Because it's all about money. The link between buying things, feeling better about yourself for a while, then buying more things when those feelings dwindle. For many, their happiness is linked with their consumerism. True happiness, is not needing more things. A walk in nature is free. Disconnecting your elation from consumerism frees you. Then you only need the basics, food, water, roof over your head. Suddenly a basic pension with loads of free time is quite appealing.

You must be hanging around those who have the platinum plated final salary pensions or worked hard paid in extra to have a nice pension.

We are in small minority, enough though to keep golf courses and local economy afloat

See how far your £221 per week will get you.

Running a vehicle, weekly shop, a meal out now and then oh and heating, clothing.

Or stay indoors, heat one room, eat like a pauper. Yes a good walk will do you wonders

And yet people live on less than that...

It may be true in YOUR circle of family/friends/ acquaintances, but, it is not universally true, not every Pensioner lives in leafy Surrey, and, I don’t recall a 60 hour working week being specified for those Pensioners who wish to work (for whatever reason)

Assuming we are talking Uk, I think “exist” is a better choice of word than “live” 😊

Are they really different? If people can disconnect their happiness from buying things and mindless consumerism it's amazing what can make you happy. That being said, the cost of basics has gone up and continues to do so but not everybody has this connection between a happy life and being wealthy. There is another way...
