For once, I agree with Spen.

Just need to be careful.

Spen is being a bit ridiculous.

"Fair and accurate reports of court proceedings held in public, or good-faith discussions of public affairs where the risk of prejudice is purely incidental, are generally not considered contempt."

Or from gov.uk

"In the UK, satire is generally protected under the right to freedom of expression, but it can cross the line into contempt of court if it creates a substantial risk of serious prejudice to active legal proceedings. While humorous, rude, or iconoclastic comments are allowed, they must not or intimidating witnesses."

The threshold of "influencing a jury" will be a high bar and preposterously unlikely to be the case for a small and anonymous forum. And certainly not met by commenting on news stories that themselves are reporting facts.

If you were to call him a horrid name, that is not relevant to the conduct in a public office charge, that's in the realms of libel. Even there, what is the quantum of damage from a niche forum? If you hire Trumps lawyers, £5Bn, but everywhere else, £0.

Christ, first I agree with Spen and now I'm defending him.

As @First Aspect says satire is OK.

Commentary on prospects of his guilt, traversing evidence etc may cross the line into contempt.

It may be unlikely that 'pub talk' amongst a vanishingly small sub set of a forum would attract attention but the site owner, as publisher, may prefer not to take the chance.

Sure, but if we are saying the BBC is saying something, it shouldn't be an issue. Nor if we are saying that the police are saying something. The risks in this case of reporting on the contents of Epstein documents already in the public domain,.also not an issue. Basically, you will have to try very hard to be held in contempt of court.

The BBC are reporting that he has been arrested following allegations about his conduct as trade envoy, because of widely reported information in the Epstein files and possibly additional information.

His stupid jowly fat face is all over the news again, and his low IQ offends me.

All that is fine.

We are not talking about reporting of court proceedings here as (at present) there are no court proceedings

I'm being ridiculous?

I quoted what gov.uk says on the subject and merely said people should be careful what they post.

i'm sorry warning people to be careful of committing a crime is ridiculous

In theory you can go to prison for taking a wee in public whilst out for a ride. But it's very very unlikely.

You also run the risk of severing an artery if you run with scissors.

Be careful out there everyone.
