Isn't it just a development stage where the boys need more food and cereal is the most easily accessible food in the house? The sort of thing that parents won't complain about.
I did it from about 10 to around 23. years of age. Although from 18, a post beer fish and chips or curry would be substituted.

Seeing as most breakfast cereals are pretty much puddings, I don't see the issue.

Hand up anyone who has porridge after a long cold winter ride?

Age 61, I still need more food. If I have a gut-buster meal at 7ish (main course & pudding), I always need something more before I go to bed, as I go from full to totally empty in about three hours, and I can't sleep if I'm hungry.
