Between South Ken and Paddington is Hyde Park - a decent option for cyclists.

Yes, I clocked that. Nice to walk through too. I'd like to see the Italian Garden bit in nice weather.

I don't like big cities, but London does what it does well. Incidentally, I'd hoped to meet up with a young Devon musician who's now studying at Imperial, and I'd really not taken on board what a mahoosive bit of real estate it is there, right a proper posh part of London. Huuuuge!

If I'm not in a rush to get anywhere and I'm doing the tourist thing I like to wander around above ground but the Tube is so much easier than it was now they have the tap in and out with a daily cap. I know it's not technically part of London Underground but the Lizzie Line is almost enjoyable to travel on. It amuses me when Londoners moan about their public transport, they obviously don't venture out of the capital much. My main issue with South Kensington is that it feels like you have to walk a mile or more underground before you get out.

One of the staff at the Royal Brompton, being aware of my travel to and from South Ken, said she was somewhat exasperated by the people who actually live in London who complain about the distance they have to travel to get there.

Yes, the tap in and out system is brilliant. Just extraordinary to see the hundreds and hundreds of people moving around by tube, and no queues at rush hour, even if the train itself was a game of sardines for a few stops.

What sort of complaints do you hear from people living in London about transport?

Regular moans about how busy the Tube is, the condition of trains, strikes, delays. To be fair I haven't heard people complaining about cost for a while but then I no longer work for a company with a London office. I think it falls into the category of taking things for granted.

That’s only if you follow the foot tunnel to the museums or Albert hall. There is an exit right outside the station but it’s on the wrong side of the main road for the museums.

Ah, that'd be why I didn't understand Pross's comment.

Just annoyed I'd bought an ordinary (albeit very delicious) croissant from one stall before noticing the humungous almost croissants from the stall next to it. I wasn't sure if I needed an empty stomach at 10am, so didn't risk a second.

I have heard people call it 'St Pancake'.
Probably I've just described a totally different part of London. It is all the same to my eye.
I used to know London reasonably well at one point and could travel about with the agility of a local, but every time I go back now, it has always changed - They must just constantly demolish and build things, then demolish that and build more! 🤔😆

Having to wait at least 12 minutes for the tube??

IT'S THE ENDING OF THE WORLD!!

... I had the surreal experience of seeing St P platform absolutely rammed and completely, and I mean *completely* silent. Londoners are just the weirdest people when they are in The Tube Experience.

Yes. they are weird.

I saw a question on Reddit last night: "Can you save a seat on the tube?*" I thought: that's actually an interesting question!

*for a friend that would get on at a later stop. And the train was really busy.

Possibly because they haven't gone on strike for a full 4 months. Usually it's OK.
