Going Quiet (Maybe)

Just posting as I'm not "flouncing", just might or might not be posting as frequently for a bit. Decided I'm fed up with UK so time to head off cycle touring. Just booked ferry for tomorrow. I'm sure I will be reading/posting but depends on how electricity goes (camping). No idea how long, no idea where (after the ferry arrival port).

I don't blame you! Have fun

Haha, someone forgot to tell the estate agent photographer not to photograph their 'special room'. Apparently the still photo has been removed, but not the video.

If we get more summers like this, I might well be tempted to get external shutters fitted, if I'm allowed to in the conservation zone... really noticing the radiated heat indoors from the front of the house, and even with curtains closed, there's heating of internal air going on behind the windows. French house with external shutters much better. Here it's got up to 25C with external temp at 30C, where in France I can keep a 10-15C difference.

What is wattle and daub like for insulation?

Part of our house is about 4ft underground. We had condensation on the floors walls and a mirror today. It's that humid.

In the sun outside my office it was about 43C. Only 32 in my office.

Here it's 80cm cob, and in France is 80cm limestone, so there is certainly a delay before indoors heats up and reasonable temperature gradient, as long as I can cool it down overnight. Im happy with 25C indoors, but 30 is really unpleasant at night, if the house has got too hot, because some idiot decided to cook a meal for six people rather than do salads etc., when said idiot was in France a year or two ago.

Anyway, it's currently 26 outside, so hoping to open things up in about an hour.

They've even just decided to cancel the vide grenier in the French village on Sunday cos of the heat... in case anyone is tempted to say that the French just carry on because they are used to it.
