I normally find well done to be undercooked.

You're not redeeming yourself.

On the other hand, our favourite restaurant was offering 12hr slow-cooked lamb on the specials board, which was excellent. You just wouldn't want to destroy a good steak in that manner.

It’s what the public want innit.

It would appear so, in an area of high deprivation, with food banks galore, it would appear that hairdressers, beauty “salons”, vape shops, and nail bars are bucking the trend. Along with a copious supply of electric scooters and suron electric bikes.

I find that "a good steak" is just a misuse of a large chunk of meat that would have produced a decent pot of carne asada.

Okay. I'd accept an invitation to dinner on that basis. I can bring the wine.
(Though I have to mention that it's not a cut you'd use for steak).

That was the only rendering of the recipe I found in English, and they suggest the wrong cut. We don't use lard when cooking it either.

How do you grate a tomato?

The quantities seem rather large for a recipe that serves one. Or do you just eat the leftovers for the rest of the week?

You grate a tomato the same way you grate an onion or anything else. I linked to that page as it was the only rendering I could find in English, take its contents with a pinch of salt. It is not the sort of dish that you would cook just for one person, it would be usually be the main course of a celebration meal for loads of people.

Is that a chef's pinch of salt i.e. a handful as normal people call it (like "a small amount of butter" as they chuck half a pack into their recipe)?

I'm still puzzling over this. Relatively solid things such as an onion or cheddar can easily be grated but wouldn't a tomato just turn to mush?
(My cookery consultant also thinks this is daft.)

Tomatoes used for this sort of cooking tend to be quite firm. I think they are referred to as beef tomatoes in here.

Quite a common method of making sauces in Mediterranean countries. Nice on toast in Spain as pan con tomato.

Same with various “celebrities” talking about their condition. IMhO

some of it is annoying yes, but for some I think it comes from a good place. They usually end up plugging a charity or two, and/or just using their celebrity soap box to raise awareness. We don't always know if or how much they are paid to do the interviews or programmes about their illness, and if they announce they are doing it for free then people object to that as well.

In contrast, I have far less respect for these "celebrity" families that are paid money to allow a camera crew into their homes e.g. Tyson Fury, Stacey Solomon etc. They haven't actually suffered anything that the rest of us haven't. But complain about how tiring it is working and doing the school run, and how they're depressed or battling some addiction. The irony is that millions of others in the UK have to put up with the same or worse, whilst not sitting in a £1.3M house

Yes, your second example annoys me too.

I suppose, celebrities annoy me, end of 😊
