Reform, and the death of the Tory Party

If he dies in an assassination attempt, the process is stopped, allowing the party(ies) time to nominate another candidate. Then the process starts again. Withdrawing on health grounds after the close of nominations isn't possible, and the election goes ahead.
I'd thought that if a candidate dies the election is still held.

That's the case if the person who dies is an independent candidate. But if they're representing a 'registered political party' the poll is cancelled and a new writ issued.

I hope that survey was limited to Clacton but doubt it.

Indeed, so it'll be interesting to see the first one out of Clacton. I genuinely think with Farage's lack of presence in (or doing any work for) Clacton, voters there might well just spin the dice and have a bit of a giggle, even Reform-voting ones. You can be sure that every Green, Labour and Lib Dem is going to be voting for Comte Tête Poubelle - I think the chance of making worldwide news with such daft British humour will be a considerable motivator. It's almost like all his previous by-elections have been preparation for this moment.

Wasn't there someone in government (aka 'the establishment') who shared this surname?

Whatever, if this is the line they are going to take, it suggests they haven't got a clue how to counter CBF.

I actually saw some vox pops the other day where people in Clacton were saying he does more than just surgeries and another saying he'd been helping sort out (I think) some kind of hospital appointment issue although they did caveat it that they'd change their opinion if he didn't get it sorted out, such are the vagaries and expectations of voters. However, it was on the BBC so they had to balance it against a couple of people saying farage is an idiot and does nothing so who knows?

If I had the misfortune to live there I'd definitely vote Bin Face but then if I lived there I'd probably be a totally different person.

I think I saw somewhere that there's a vox pop couple who often seem to, erm, pop up in Clacton, who happen to be Farage fans.

I didn't think he'd done a single surgery, because of his 'security' concerns.

There are too few people who are openly racist and xenophobic enough to vote for Reform for those policies alone. Even the Republicans are finding this out. This is why Reform have peaked.

Sadly, it's informed the rest of the parties what might work for them in order to bring the tattooed gammons back to their parties.

Maybe the parties should start chasing the vote of people who make sweeping generalisations about those who vote for other parties?
