Something nasty in the woodshed
Suddenly the strategy becomes clear...
I agree and to me it highlights a major issue with the way Westminster works these days. The system of whips has become far too powerful. We elect our MPs to represent us not to represent whoever the Party leader might be at any moment. Most of the country doesn't get a vote to select the Party leader and they all take their post declaring the previous incumbent made a complete mess and it's time for new policies and ... we get no vote on that, no say and our elected representative either goes along with the leader or gets thrown out of the party.I've said it many times in the past but if an MP changes their political Party it should trigger a by-election. They were voted in on the basis of the Party they were representing. Sure, there are some that get voted in because of who they are (mainly long serving, well-respected MPs so not very many!) but most people are voting for the Party and not the individual.
“A prominent Welsh Tory is being kicked out of his party for telling his party leader he was thinking about defecting to Reform UK.
James Evans has been removed from the shadow cabinet and had the whip withdrawn making him an independent, Tory Senedd leader Darren Millar has said.”
Are we supposed to do the standard cry of "hypocrites!" when certain posters don't admit Farage's sins (or 'incompetence' of having a team that 'forgets' to declare his outside earnings)?
Yeah but Rayner…
Yeah but she criticised other MPs for treating being an MP as a second job which has become she criticised them for doing other work so is a raging hypocrite or something as people can't understand nuance.
