Reform, and the death of the Tory Party

The video footage does look quite damning but there must be more we haven’t seen.
I’d like to hear the whole reason for the jury failing to reach a verdict. What was the split on the jury, as they clearly couldn’t reach a majority decision either way?
But if the jury weren’t able to convict then we have to stand y the decision.

I keep on and on repeating this for the benefit of the uninformed.

There has to be something in the conduct of the (male) officer/officers towards the defendant that means two juries were unable to be 'so certain that they were sure' that the charges were made out.

I can't find any media reports that explain what happened in court. Was there any day by day reporting in media in either the trial venue, Liverpool, or Manchester that might disclose it.

If they're still doing that they're robbing themselves.

Tax Credits had a sweet spot around hours - and some cliff edges too.

They were abolished by April 2025 with people migrated to Universal Credit in which the effect of additional earnings is pretty much linear.

Possible there are exceptions where people had Transitional Protection but majority probably do not.

I think there are still some doing it (she's at a larger company now so there's a bigger bank of cover so it doesn't get mentioned as much). I'm sure there will still be lots of people getting the 'perceived wisdom' from people they know and / or social media based on the old system.

Absolutely. But the right wing press won’t be reporting that. And conveniently seem to ignore the fact that they were convicted on the other counts of assault of the female officers.
The video footage shows the male officer kicking the defendant in the head, which wouldn’t have helped the prosecution.

I don't doubt that you are correct, but, long held (and, perhaps not even accurate) beliefs take a long time to dissipate (think for example "no point working overtime, you pay it all in tax).

Farage and Braverman going full-on Enoch Powell with their 'White lives matter' dog-whistles this morning. Farage still hiding from any scrutiny – it feels like he's trying to get the spotlight back from Rupert Lowe. This is where Starmer's pandering to 'legitimate concerns' has got us.

Farage seems to be trying to incite the next wave of riots.

He really is an odious man.

He's using the same tactic as Trump of winding up his followers, knowing what they are like and what they are likely to do, without giving explicit instructions. He's a steaming pile of 💩

He was addressing his acolytes in Southampton earlier.

Farage got a bit of his riot with Tommy in attendance. He absolutely knows what he's doing.
