Yes of course, they are illegal economic migrants
If they are economic migrants why are they crossing at huge risk on small boats? Surely if they already have employment and just want a better job in a different country they would take the plane or Eurostar?

You're making things up again, Andy

Because the UK is a soft touch, they get put up in hotels given new clothing, phones, money, immediate medical access. Virtually no one gets sent back home or to the numerous safe countries they went through.

You're referring to asylum seekers (the ones that "get put up in hotels").
Asylum seekers are not illegal immigrants.

Should their case for asylum be upheld, they can remain as the UK has the responsibility (and a history of which we can be rightly proud) to ensure refuge to those fleeing persecution. Should their case be declined, they become "illegal" and are returned.

But I think you know this.

Do you actually believe the utter bollocks you spout? Do you even read it? Yes, we give refugees medical access - we don't believe in letting people die or letting them transmit illnesses. Yes, we unsure that they are fed and have somewhere to sleep.

In the year ending March 2025, there were 9,838 asylum-related returns from the UK, a 29% increase compared to the previous year. These returns are a mix of enforced and voluntary departures, and include individuals who have been refused asylum or had their claims withdrawn. 28% of total enforced and voluntary returns were asylum-related.

Weirdly, most people seeking asylum need asylum. You can't deport people back to countries where they will be killed. All of the "safe" countries accept asylum seekers - it's important for all countries to share the burden.

There will be an increase in refugees over the next 50 years as countries become unliveable in due to climate change. We need to be planning for that and to work with other countries to ensure safe havens.

If the UK and US hadn't abandoned Afghanistan we wouldn't have as many Afghan refugees. If we hadn't decided to bomb the shoot out of Iraq and destabilise the middle east we wouldn't have as many Iraqi and Syrian refugees. When the UK participates in wars, expect people to want to get out of the war zone.

Also, if they wanted the best treatment, the UK isn't even in the top 5.

Several countries are known for their robust support systems and development-friendly policies for asylum seekers, including New Zealand, Norway, Australia, Canada, Sweden, and Germany. These countries offer a range of benefits and programs to help refugees integrate into society, including language lessons, integration programs, and financial assistance
