Seemingly trivial things that elicit an emotional response of some kind

Annoyance at somehow scooping up my main mobile with the laundry and it ending up in the water bfore I realised. Currently drying in a tub of rice, but camera lenses betraying how much moisture is still inside. Thankfully the French SIM had its own mobile, so now both SIMS are in that one, so I've got all my tickets to return to Devon starting tomorrow. But drat, all the same.

That's annoying. I dropped mine the other day and it was traumatising. Mostly because of passwords.

Incidentally, I think the rice thing should be debunked. The idea is to give the moisture somewhere to go. But it isn't a terribly effective desiccant and doesn't create much of a water vapour pressure gradient. It would be more effective to leave it in an airing cupboard for a week, or somewjere else tjat creates an ambient warm and dry environment. But possibly nothing will work unless it is opened, and possibly the camera lens will be a tiny distillation vessel for the rest of time.

I think there's a fair chance it will be fine, but i can recommend an odd little chap in a back alley in Tavistock, if you need someone to take it apart for you.

So did I, because I broke the old.one. But I needed to repair it to get some stuff off it, which is annoying. I now have a spare out of date handset I feel obliged to keep and find a use for. I will probably get a payment sim for it so that.i can forget to put credit on it and be unable to use.it when I need it.

The new one is a black rectangle that appears identical in performance. Perhaps it has more willybytes or something, and I should be impressed.

The only upside is that my upgrade is to a 2 or 3 year old model that someone else has already sent back because it was small enough to still fit in a pocket.

It means it was about a half of the price of a new black rectangle,.which makes me feel slightly smug.

No, its a Samsung. I haven't ever got on with the iPhone interface, mostly because I don't use.my work phone much. They do seem slightly better at some things, but not enough to justify the trauma of switching to the Apple ecosystem.

I subsequently learned from Gemini that the rice thing is twaddle, and actually bad, in that rice dust is corrosive if it gets moist inside the phone. In the absence of silica gel, better to stand the phone vertical, take the SIM tray out, and let gravity and dry air do what they can. The lenses were already looking drier this morning. We'll see.

As I say, the advantage of having had a parallel handset for the French SIM is that a lot of my log-ins are already on it, one way or another. So I'm not yet traumatised.

TBH I don’t have a lot of my life on my phone and just use it for occasional browsing, looking at emails, taking photos or as a phone so have never found changing between IPhone and others much of a problem.

I like the 13mini simply because it’s the smallest smartphone I could get. It has a crap battery life though.

Still no dice at 30 hours post laundry dunking, but it's still got condensation in the lenses. It got so far, then turned itself off again. I won't try charging it, as apparently that is the likeliest to fry its innards.

The only thing that's foxed me to transfer over to mobile2 without a functioning mobile1 is MS Authenticator, but as there's no rush on that, I'll wait till I'm on a laptop that's recognised by MS.

Otherwise, a lot of passwords stored in Chrome, and managed to get WhatsApp working using my registered phone number. And via that, I'm back on Facebook.

I have a Pixel rectangle. The main reason for upgrading is a) storage and b) much better camera.
I am also anti-apple except for my i-pad but I find that annoying in many ways.

I think a lot of it is familiarity. If you are happy with either Android or Apple then you are happy.
People dislike change. Simple as that imo.

Usually, but not always. The music notation software Sibelius and the school admin system iSams were both stupidly unintuitive, so unless you used them both extensively and frequently, you couldn't find anything by guessing.
