I miss the "seemingly trivial things" threads from BR. In theory these should go on the main site, but too often I find myself amused, intrigued or annoyed by things that might be considered political in some way. So it's their loss.

I asked one of those clickbait websites for some solar panel quotes. I live in one of the sunniest parts of the UK and I have a block of 5 garages with a south facing roof.

Turns out they can't give estimates to people in my area.

Annoying.

I'm trying to join U3A in my area.

The application form is buried deep on their site; is says payment can be made by BACS, but there is no bank details.

It's not usually this hard to give away money!

Emotion: frustration

Do it yourself, it's not overly complicated. Get electrician with solar knowledge to help

It's a 10 drop from the roof, so no, I'd end up on the news. I think installation is the least of my worries, tbh. Just baffled as to where in the UK this particular website was targeting sales, if not Cornwall.

You're far better searching out local installers. They are easily found. Also Speak to nearby houses which have had recent installations

I was just curious tbh, then irritated because my curiosity wasn't satiated. And annoyed at myself for being sucked in. Then pleased with myself that I didn't enter any personal details.

Had never heard of them but just looked and for my local group it says just turn up and after two free sessions you need to become a member at £40 for a full year.

When faced with similar I enter address details for local Council Offices (now unoccupied), but they can call 01234 567 890 if they are so inclined and owning my own domains I have unlimited e-mail addresses I can receive or SPAM or just discard on, And those are used fairly frequently.

Continued annoyance at Meta social media apps. In addition to the ongoing random timeline feed on FB and IG deciding on posts I want to see but in which I have no interest (changing to ‘following’ every time I use it overcomes this but should be an unnecessary step) I am now finding it gives me regular notifications that someone I follow has posted or commented on a post by someone else I follow. There’s an option ‘see less notifications like this’ but as with the ‘I’m not interested’ option for recommended posts this seems to either be ignored at best or interpreted as ‘I love these notifications please send me more’.

One of the reasons I've mostly given up on IG. FB is virtually unusable on Android, but fine on the laptop accessing via https://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr and with both Adblocker Ultimate and uBlock Origin on Chrome, it's ad- & sperm spam-free.

It does annoy me that Chrome keeps on trying to get me to uninstall uBlock Origin as it doesn't comply with some new protocol, as it's one of the best out there still.
