If you are not there then there is no point in watching, or listening. It is about being there. I wish the BBC could grasp this.
I said that in my 20s and it still holds true. Okay, I wasn't talking about Glastonbury specifically at the time but the principle holds true.

Plenty of people enjoy the BBC's coverage. I imagine lots of them missed out on the ticket ballot. Or went in the past, but some life/health/cost factor now prevents them.

Yeah, fine. But they are missing out on 80% of being there. Not for me but crack on.
Gotta be better than watching celebrities cooped up dancing on ice in the jungle love search. 😉

I agree. For me live music works live, just doesn't work on TV/video.

But I'm also not a fan of massive commercial festivals. Best festivals in my time were the summer solstice at Stonehenge. Unfortunately doesn't happen these days but used to be brilliant time.

You can say that about football matches, cricket matches etc. You can say it about royal events etc

However given the viewing figures events of TV like these get, then your views are not shared by everyone

I do say it about all those things. BBC have more channels than the main BBC1/BBC2, why can't they continue the regular stuff on the "main" channels and put the sport, royal events, festivals etc on BBC3/BBC4 ?

Which is what in the post I said "For me ..." football matches, cricket matches etc. You can say it about royal events on TV are also pretty dull.
