Shít graphs

It's just that the graphical element of the triangles to explain in three separate 'graphs' doesn't add anything other than three prettily-coloured triangles saying that three-say heatwaves might peak on the first, second or third days. Well, duh. The second graph says that longer heatwaves are, well, longer, and might peak in the first, second, or third parts of the heatwaves. But at least the shapes of the lines do convey a bit of extra information beyond the categories.

They are intended to depict a general principle and show how the observed data reflects these principles.

For some, for examples peolle who generally understand how an oven works, these general principles are pretty simple. For others, for example a large proportion of the electorate, this "If I have two beans, and add another two beans" approach is entirely necessary.

OMG. There is nothing wrong with using a simple visual representation of numbers that change. It's called clear communication.
(Wait 'til you see music notation ... )

What next - NO to Pie Charts of 3-party election results?!?

EDIT: sorry, only read this bit:
But at least the shapes of the lines do convey a bit of extra information beyond the categories.
So you DO get it!

For “projections” read “guess”.
First question, who is the graph from?

1) Quite
2) Didn't say, which made the post even more infuriating.

I don't think the 2010-2015 part of the graph adds much.
I agree. Best sort of similar "projection" (and fairly simple) system I've seen is VeloViewer's miles for current year projection where you have a slider control to specify the bias between last 30 days and previous years.

The bar chart looks suspiciously like about 48% for 'Rejoin', rather than 75%. Also a shit poll, obvs, but if the DM are going to keep trying to get the result they want...
