I logged in specifically to like that. Like it or not.

I wish there were an option of a kind of 'read receipt', which one can do grumpily (which @First Aspect would make full use of) and doesn't necessarily imply agreement with the sentiment expressed in the post, which a 'like' rather does.

Just to note that I've been admitted to W, having had an invitation and done the identity verification. All I've done so far is check that I can get in via the front door - haven't even looked around the entrance hall to assess if it will be of any use if Bluesky disappears in a puff of smoke.

Looks *exactly* like Bluesky. I've posted some photos, but I suspect, looking at other posts, that there will be little or no interaction... exactly like Bluesky.

It's Europe's counterpart to X that follows EU law and not controlled by a Nazi. It looks like it's mostly just a mirror of Bluesky, and I've yet to work out if it does anything that Bluesky doesn't. I can't see myself using it much.

Don't worry, I can't see it taking off, so it might well go the way of Post, but it's useful to have a non-US back-up, if 'microblogging' is one way one wants to access news & opinions. It was a shame that Twitter went down the Muskian plughole.

Tried to use Reddit today to reply to ask a question as a reply to a post about a fairly obscure marathon I'm looking to enter. I then got a message from a bot saying it had been deleted as I was a new user and had a low karma rating. How are you supposed to build karma or get involved as a new user? Stupid system.

I think it expects you to do a few replies before posting questions. @PurplePenguin probably knows more, but I think it's analogous to the system here (or was it Bike Radar) where you had to make some posts before putting any items in the marketplace, just to make sure people are kinda genuine.

I suspect that it means being a general suck-up until you get good karma.
The world is going to hell but that coming from an old guy is nothing new. 😉

I think it expects you to do a few replies before posting questions. @PurplePenguin probably knows more, but I think it's analogous to the system here (or was it Bike Radar) where you had to make some posts before putting any items in the marketplace, just to make sure people are kinda genuine.

I was trying to do a reply rather than starting anything. It looks like you have to go around upvoting people first which is a bit weird. I'll see if anyone on the mothership's running thread has done it.

I think different subs set their own rules and there is a general problem with bots, so I guess this is to do with that. I rarely post.

Bluesky having 'issues' (looks like they didn't put 50p in the meter), but 'W Social' (which seems to piggy-back off Bluesky) is still working. I guess that someone somewhere needs to turn something off and back on again.
