They don't often try to stop PMs telling lies. I can remember Blair telling a few porkies over WMDs in Iraq and getting away with it.

They have all, in recent memory, let the PM of the day get away with lies much of the time. None of them have made sure the PM actually answers the questions put to them at QT.

Surprisingly enough answering the questions asked doesn't seem to be part of the rules.
