Ian Blackford (SNP) was in an interview recently and spoke about Starmer. I said he is a highly capable man, who is one of the good guys. However, he was in the wrong job as PM. That is how I see it.

I listened to Burnham in the HoC this afternoon and have to say he is one of the best communicators I have heard there in a long time, whether you like what he says or not. In that aspect he will bring a lot to the post that Starmer never could.

I would agree. Too often politicians want to "be in charge" rather than contribute to their best capability.

I thought Corbyn far better suited to a more back seat role proposing, considering, reviewing policy. Being "in charge" was something he wasn't good at.

I don't see it as a hood or bad aspect to individual capability, just different people are better (and worse) at different things. With politicians ego seems to get in the way and "being in charge" then dominates their ambitions. Shame and our governance is worse for it,

The double whammy of Starmer and Reeves and their wooden script-reading won't be missed. Even when they had something vaguely interesting to say, they made everything sound like "At the third beep..."

Starmer was actually most convincing when not reading a script, but he rarely (if ever) allowed himself to when at the dispatch box.

I think he might have been a great Foreign Secretary. Again, we'll never know.

So let's get this right;

He was wooden, hopeless, no personality or communication skills, wasn't suited to politics and no discernable policies, but people still think he should still stay around in politics to give us the benefit of those qualities they think he doesn't have after being kicked out by his party.

Bollocks. Just more people who didn't like him continuing to find something not to like him for.

The job wasn't for him, he'll get other offers, probably already has. The world moves on.

I don't blame him. He's of an age where he might want to take on less work or just cash in on his experience with a few hours of speaking engagements a month. I wouldn't hang around in Labour as an ex PM in his circumstances either. Probably going to write his memoirs.

Opinions will vary. However, he was the almost respectable face of an increasingly corrupt political system - and that is how it works and will continue to work until there is a significant intervention.
