I'm still finding it amusing on Bluesky the Starmer loyalists who are vociferously claiming he was the Messiah, hadn't put a foot wrong, was heading for a massive majority at the next election, and was stabbed in the back by Burnham.

He was not the messiah, he wasn't even a naughty boy.

Maybe an indication how daft western politics has become where people follow almost worship a person rather than looking at ideas and policies.

With a few notable (and obvious) exceptions, most politicians have some better ideas/policies and some worse ideas/policies yet the "loyalists" can never bring themselves to disagree with the "worse" ideas because it's too close to being a religious diktat where the worshiped individual can do no wrong.

This is sadly true. People pick a side and stick with the unicorn promises regardless of facts. Then get disappointed when those promises aren’t met. Replacement put in. Rinse and repeat.
