It seems his position is increasingly difficult to defend.

But his relationship with Trump, bound by allegations about both and Epstein is critical for UK/US trade etc.

Rock/hard place.

Given Starmer's position when in opposition about ethical politics etc, then this cannot be a reason to allow him to stay if he is as tainted as some suggest.

I am concerned that in his recent interview, he was suggesting he didn't see things others did as he was gay. I'm not sure using his sexuality as a defence is a very attractive approach

Exactly. And he has the get out of jail free card that he definitely wasn't boffing underaged girls.

Strangely enough Starmer didn't accept that approach when attacking those who were friends with Jimmy Saville.
2 Tier Kier again would be the accusation if Kier adopts this approach - mind you I'm not sure he has or would try to go down this line

Then we've got starmer's how to book from 1999 making an uncomfortable read for him now he's suggesting an adjustment to the echr

Private lettings were in decline before Reeves assumed office.

The Tories made various things more expensive including mortgages (no tax relief on BTL jobs) although they bottled out of reforming Section 21 which allows repossession pretty mush at LL's will.

Can't recall ever using S21 in 15 years

I've used S8 for persistent non payers, 3 times, one of them abusive/threatening to managing agent.

This latest decline attributed to Rachel's policies according to Royal institution of Chartered Surveyors

Yup. Sometimes in foreign affairs we have to hold our noses. I'm glad to not be in charge of this recruitment!

If Mandellson's position is thought by Starmer ( or those advising him) to be untenable now, it will be interesting to see how Starmer removes him without creating an impression of a government in freefall given it comes so quickly on the heels of Rayner's removal and the cabinet reshuffle that followed that and the other "bad news" that seems to dog the government at present.

It will need skilful handling to avoid increasing pressure on the Government

Remove him on the day of the budget?

Guardian reports Mandelson as having been sacked.

It will have been because starmer was a stuttering wreck at prime minister questions. He fumbled his way when quizzed over Mandleson.

He's trying to stop the bad PR , as to why he knew of the connection to epstein with the emails etc.

Minister of corruption- resigned due to alleged corruption

Minister of housing resigned for abusing letting rules, just before they changed

Deputy labour leader, resigned for tax fraud, guilty of breaking ministerial code.

Mandleson, ambassador to US sacked because of association with epstein.

They just keep coming

It seems the reason for Mandelson's prompt dismissal is the emergence of new facts disclosed in a cache of emails about previously undisclosed support for Epstein including a suggestion that his conviction was wrong and should be appealed.

If I've got it right, aren't all we non-Tory-fans supposed to defend him now because he's Labour?

Who's going to be first? 🤔
