I kind of agree but on the other hand, some people are best ignored and left to stew in silence. Can we do the same with Farage?

I think a major part of the problem is that Labour are pushing the same agenda as Reform - lots of talk about "illegal immigrants", how these illegal boat crossings must be stopped, how we are sending them back, etc. all escalatory language that is driving those so inclined further to the right.
Time Labour changed the rhetoric, started talking about refugees as human beings in need of our help, how UK is a moral country that helps those few in desperate need and talking about the contribution they make to the economy.
Why not allow asylum seekers to work whilst their claims are being assessed as many other European countries allow so they are not costing us in hotel bills.
Lots of ways to deescalate. Starmer will lose to Farage if he competes on Reform territory playing Reform's rules as Starmer has no charisma and loads of constraints (like truth and accountability) whereas Farage has plenty of charisma and can talk twaddle with no accountability.
