Until there is a legal process available to apply from abroad then the boats will continue so they can apply in this country.
Until the backlog of applications is cleared and the entire process sped up there will be a need for hotels or an equivalent.

This is obvious. The government (of whatever colour) simply don't want to face up to the truth of the matter.

It is extremely unlikely to happen but I ponder, who would be to blame for the state of this country if the boats did stop coming?
