'Andy Burnham has repeated his claim that Britain is too “in hock to the bond markets” and set out his case for “business friendly socialism” in his latest intervention in British politics.'

I've heard Paul Embery say a similar thing. I like Paul and think he's one of the best thinkers on the left right now but what I haven't heard either him or Burnham say is now they propose to raise the money they would need for.their program of public spending if they're not going to go the bond markets for.it. Presumably they will just print it?

Burnham has done some good things re transport, capping bus fares etc but his idea of growth has been to jump into bed with developers and encourage building sky scrapers in the city centre, none of which seems to be affordable housing. His clean air zone was an unpopular bust and while he talks a good game he never gives the detail of how it's all going to work. He'll end up as leader of Labour though; he's just waiting for a safe seat and Starmer being ousted. He just doesn't want to be seen as part of the plot.
