This may blow your mind, but the likes of the Sun, Times, Mail etc are not reporting on what's going well.
The area where Starmer isn't helping himself is the knee jerk responses. Digital ID was in the manifesto. Instead of saying "well this is what you voted for", he collapsed and did a u-turn.

All of the "fails" are due to showing weakness or failing to justify why they are failures. That's the major Starmer problem.

To help you, the link is to the Labour Party Manifesto. Where is the reference to Digital ID.

It should be easy to show us where it is now you have the document. Unless of course you were simply not telling the truth and make up things.

Perhaps its @icowden rather than the Sun, Daily Mail , Times etc that is not telling what is happening

I believe that a lot of the political commentators still believe Starmer and McSweeney will leave No10 together, but not imminently.

I shall watch with great interest, as what happens next will be evidence of whether Starmer has any gumption of his own, or whether he can't imagine being PM without McS's partnership. Either way, it's going to be a rocky few months for Starmer, with the local elections likely to be terrible for Labour.

The bit I simply don't get about the course they've been following with all the Reform-lite policies is that it palpably hasn't worked in polling terms, but the response each time has been "That didn't work, so let's do more of it, and do it harder". And Mahmood seems to get a buzz out of it, which makes it even more repulsive.

I think that’s a bit harsh.

We know Mandelson was only picked because of Trump. There is no other explanation.

So to say there was no justification for his selection is wrong. The justification was the hope that they could keep Trump happy.

Without Trump in office none of this would have happened.

Starmer has had a crap hand of cards, but has played them badly to.

They probably thought Mandelson is one step removed from the young girls so is reasonable protected. No one knew about the latest stuff spying stuff. Hindsight is wonderful

Tame lobby hacks are granted privileged access to ministers by people like Alistair Campbell and Damian McBride. In return for getting scoops and being allowed to ask questions at press conferences they're also expected to keep other stories out of the news for fear of being sidelined in future. Many lobby journalists and media commentators are TOO personally matey with the politicians they're supposed to be holding to account so it should come as no surprise that they saw Mandelson's close personal friendship with a CONVICTED paedophile as a mere detail that they were prepared to shrug their shoulders over and look the other way - provided he could work with the Trump regime it didn't matter. In effect Mandelson was a still a mate to many in the press and media and it tells you a lot about their morals.

And I suspect that that was part of Mandelson's skill, in 'cultivating' sympathetic journalists... see The Times' rehabilitation effort (in a moment of spectacularly bad timing) from Katy Balls yesterday. To be fair, the expression on the dog's face is more like what normal people are thinking.

This might give Starmer a bit of comfort... despite the onslaught trying to capitalise on his discomfort.

It won't give Badenoch any comfort at all. If the Tory press actually want to try to make a positive difference, they should be trying to get rid of her to improve their electoral chances.

Probably a realistic option now Jenrick is out of the running to replace her. That said I have no idea who any potential replacements might be. Starmer seems to be working hard to boost her standing (giving her very easy targets that even she has not been able to miss).
