I've been wondering about "the performative aspect" and am maybe changing my views (a bit). Maybe what the UK needs is some inspiration, somebody to generate some enthusiasm in business, a feeling we are going somewhere rather than maybe sort of struggling to stand still. That said I think it's accepted that he's goosed. He simply cannot 'do' politics in the performative mode that's needed.
Starmer/Reeves seem to fail to inspire and motivate, maybe too technocratic but without business feeling there is a future, that it is worth pushing forward then they won't and we won't get the growth and we're stuck treading water.
