I agree, but, when the alternatives have failed them, can’t you see that people will try anything.

If you were terminally ill (heaven forbid) and mainstream medicine wasn’t fixing you, I dare say you would try any snake oil salesman’s “cure”

Not me. How dare you? 😉 Maybe I'm rare in that I can accept that sometimes things are simply shite.
Affect what you can, accept what you can't, and snake oil salesmen/social media are not the solution.

On Mock The Week some years ago, one of the quick fire rounds was "Things You're Unlikely to Hear at a Party Political Broadcast"

Frankie Boyle took the mic and said,

"You thought he was a c*nt... Watch this!"

How for example would preventing new people moving into the area and breathing life back into the primary school help?

Farage: Vote for Brexit - you'll be better off.
People: Well that didn't work. We're worse off? Who will we vote for to turn things around?
Farage: Vote for Reform - you'll be better off.
People: Yay! - can't see any problem here!

a) my reply was not to you

b) perhaps you are more "brave" or stoic than the people of East Durham?

Me neither.
When something isn’t working quite as you would wish and you have tried the alternatives, then you have accept what you have until something better comes along.

You do not, under any circumstance, go full nuclear.

Very true.

However, is the real concern not:

"how can a few families come to an unfamiliar country, find a job, find somewhere to live, and, do "better" than the indigenous population?"

There are 40 years of neglect and no simple answers here, there is lots to address here, and, IMHO, Reform is not the answer, but, Labour, Conservative, Lib-Dem, etc, have not been the answer either.

I could be wrong, but, I doubt telling people they are ignorant and racist will fix it either, no matter how loud it is shouted.

He says, from 300+ miles away, in leafy suburbia. If you do not understand the problem, you cannot fix it, in my experience. 😊

You might feel differently if you were living in grotty accommodation with an absentee landlord, next to a boarded up house used to grow cannabis, with no local job prospects for you or your kids.

They've had 40 years of 'accepting what they have'. There's been nothing better coming along.

That almost sounds like an advert for Religion, there is always heaven (or seven virgins) to look forward to 😊
