Who gives a fook about gaza when it's a local election. Labour have been pampering to the Islamic vote. Come back to bite them. Greens aren't going to do anything except start wearing chequered neck scarves

Top tip - you're more coherent when you just cut and paste from your sh*tfeeds.

It's an odd form of sectarianism that sees brown muslims vote for a white plumber
I think it is fair to ask whether, based on their tactics in that particular election, the Greens would have run an entirley contractictory campaign in Golders Green.

I don't know the answer, but I do strongly suspect the same tactics wouldn't have been used. This is the problem with populism. Up to the point of governing, they can be everything to everyone, then they need to make choices and instantly become less popular.

You appear to make the assumption that the majority of Jews are Zionist.
I am betting not many of them speak Urdu.

I would imagine that substantially all people of Jewish descent in the UK would be Zionists to the extent that they support the existence of the state of Israel. The extreme Zionism in some parts of the Israeli political spectrum that extends that to land that is currently Palestine is probably less widely shared. But the leaflets somehow conflated Starmer as head of state meeting people such as Narendra Modi and Netenyahu with being islamophobic.

Polanski this morning was forced to acknowledge that of course as head of state it was appropriate to meet with these people (which presumably would entail being in the same place and photographed), but not to be "chummy" with them.

It's not even student union level politics, it's more like high school.

His plan is to leave Nato and nicely ask Mr Putin to give up his nukes. It's not cosying up exactly but it is bonkers.

My general perception is that the populist left is well-meaning but hopelessly naïve; the populist right is anything but naïve and anything but well-meaning. If I were forced to choose between the two options, it would be for naïveté, as at least there's the potential to learn when confronted with hard reality.
