Starmer! The reason he isn’t committing to action against Iran, in my opinion, comes down to a few things.

First, he doesn’t want to risk offending sections of the Muslim community in this country. Second, the reality is that we barely have a functioning army anymore. Years of underfunding and neglect by successive governments have reduced us to more of a defence force than a true fighting force, and we’ve effectively shot ourselves in the foot and left the country vulnerable.

There’s also another point people aren’t talking about. If things escalated and the government needed veterans to return to service, I honestly don’t believe many would answer that call. Not because they don’t care about the country, but because they don’t trust the government behind the decisions. Too many veterans feel they could be asked to do a job today and then, 20 years later, end up being dragged through the courts for it.

I also think Starmer knows this. I think he knows that if there was a call to mobilise veterans, many wouldn’t answer and that would be embarrassing for the government. That could be another reason why he isn’t even considering mobilisation.

Personally, I wouldn’t fight for Starmer or this government, even if I believed the cause itself might be the right thing to do.

And the truth is, no soldier wants to be sent abroad when they feel their own homeland is becoming less secure.

These are dangerous times, and the last thing this country needs right now is weak leadership. We need serious change in government before the situation gets any worse.

You hit the nail square on the head.

No young man is going to give his life for this government.

I understand miltary resignations are all time high and recruiting all time low

Big Dave tell you that?
Or, are you simply thinking too much?

I’m more left than big Dave & and talking to veterans they’d only ever go back to the armed forces if we were invaded. Nobody wants to fight for the uk never mind illegal wars. Starmer can’t do right for doing wrong but he’s trying.

I am completely baffled as to why some folks claim that making well informed and sensible decisions should be viewed as being weak.

He didn't, he was pushed by milliband.

Besides, it's not as though Trump was asking UK to lead the assault. He wanted access to land miltary planes and use UK bases.

The embarrassing, we will send HMS Dragon came after Cyprus base was attacked. Exposing the complete unprepared situation of the British Navy.

Our enemies must be laughing their heads off. They could take over this country in dinghies.

Oh they are already!

I won't argue with that, and I feel that the young are even less interested. However, I severely doubt that is Starmer's main thoughts right now.
Only idiots are saying that we should be going gung ho for this, far less going to war. Blazing just summed it up.
