It's possible, but the Greens have been around for much longer, and should have better vetting. Reforms is a shoot show and they know it.
I agree but in the past they have sought out paper candidates eg they need a good number of candidates to get national election broadcasts, they believe more candidates means they get taken more seriously as a party, etc.

I think if she would have been wiser to keep schtum, given how much she is disliked by so many of the PLP, and how Starmer has kept her in post despite the widespread criticism of her of being a Reform stooge.

I suppose, if Starmer wanted to try to save his skin, he could use the excuse of Mahmood's flagrant move to sack her tomorrow and do that change of direction he promised today, back to his roots as a decent human rights lawyer, not a cheerleader of Reform policies.

Probably a bit late, and vanishingly unlikely, but it would be rather fun.

For the moment, my money is on a stubborn Starmer fighting his corner tomorrow, but he's going to have to pick a side and be ruthless if it's going to work.

So I'll probably wake up to news that he's resigned and fled the country.

Ha! Have you seen the story of the Green MSP who is on a student visa and ineligible to work?

Ha! Have you seen that that story is complete bollocks?

Q Manivannan was entitled to stand as an MSP and their visa is in order. They will have to renew their visa during their term however and this shouldn't be a problem as they are now earning £80k a year.

Something tells me you think it is okay because of the colour of the rosette.
The visa is in order but is not being used as intended. As said earlier, I expect the rules to be changed.

Not as far as I can see. They are currently at the tail end of a student visa, and here legally. Any Scottish resident can stand for election.

So far, all fine. They are currently applying for a graduate visa, which is common in many countries for people educated there, so that country benefits from the student's skills. If that visa is denied, they can't take the position of MSP. If it is granted they can stay and work.

Absolutely Stevo. Labour only have a majority of 156 seats. If 156 Labour MPs defect or stand down, anything could happen.

Of course what's likely to happen is that Labour will stay in power until they call an election in 3 years time. By that time, Reform will have strongly shown that they are a complete shootshow hopefully.

Your maths is out. If 79 defected the majority is lost.
And the 81 MPs needed to back a challenge is remarkably close to that.
