We've a similar dude up here, Inch. I'm really hoping he nails one of the fancy new Metros just to flick the v's at Nexus, who genuinely hate him.
I think they will prevail anyway. AI lacks an originality and sense of purpose. AI generated art and music pretty much always seems somehow generic. When AI implodes, artists will prevail.

I'd like to think we will.
Hard to be hopeful though, when the digital platforms we use literally have "Generative AI" fills built in.
It's lazy, sloppy and like you say: without purpose.
One thing I would say though, not in AI's defense by any means, is that the creative world (where you can actually make a living out of it) is stupidly full of snobbery that it's unreal.
Oddly, I asked a graphic designer I know to produce a logo for my choir (for which we would have paid his time) and he suggested I use AI to create one. I think he felt it was beneath him and too small a piece of work. I didn't use AI in the end but drew it up myself in Autocad (as that's the tool I'm familiar with even though it wasn't ideal for the job). The result was fine and we use it on all our posters / social media stuff and have even had emboidered logos put on clothing from the design which look good. I tried using AI to sharpen it up a bit and all it did was mess up the text!
