As far as my own creativity goes, these are things I've made for my girlfriend's birthday.

The one on the right is a work in progress. Got probably 6 hours to finish it I reckon.

I know I'm lucky enough to have the mind and skills to do this, but I'm glad I can. When AI implodes, artists will prevail.

I think they will prevail anyway. AI lacks an originality and sense of purpose. AI generated art and music pretty much always seems somehow generic.

I'd like to think we will.

Hard to be hopeful though, when the digital platforms we use literally have "Generative AI" fills built in.

It's lazy, sloppy and like you say: without purpose.

One thing I would say though, not in AI's defense by any means, is that the creative world (where you can actually make a living out of it) is stupidly full of snobbery that it's unreal.

Imo most human generated art and music seems generic. It's wonderful when you hear or see something original.

That said, the problem is if we keep teaching AI stuff there will come a point where it becomes unnoticeable, and then we're entering into Blade Runner/Terminator territory.

Somewhere it's learning Vitruvian Man.

And this is the farkery of AI. It doesn't allow for artistic nuance:

Accepting a change and knowing how to justify it, ripping bits of a different frame to shreds in a rage, going for a walk and a rollie to chill the fark out, remembering you love Aussie hip hop on the way home, chatting sh!t with your neighbour for a minute, recommending Aussie hip hop to neighbours and your 3 friends, fannying about with your cats for a bit, considering shaving your balls, wondering who might actually have killed JFK, get mad at your GP because they don't have your prescription sorted even though you went there on Monday, perhaps a slice of toast, contemplate shelf location, the washing up, clothes, genuinely contemplating asking where your neighbour gets his sh!t weed from because I've never smelled anything like it and it's truly dreadful and although I'm an amateur compared to Snoop I know what I'm talking about.

That took me a mouthful of Dr Pepper to get through while I was typing it. Sh!tload less water than datacentres involve, and I know the results are better.

Oddly, I asked a graphic designer I know to produce a logo for my choir (for which we would have paid his time) and he suggested I use AI to create one. I think he felt it was beneath him and too small a piece of work. I didn't use AI in the end but drew it up myself in Autocad (as that's the tool I'm familiar with even though it wasn't ideal for the job). The result was fine and we use it on all our posters / social media stuff and have even had emboidered logos put on clothing from the design which look good. I tried using AI to sharpen it up a bit and all it did was mess up the text!

That kind of attitude really frustrates me.

If we can't help each other how the f*ck are we meant to keep going?

AI is weird with text.

I'm not pitching or whatever, but if you need a hand with stuff drop me a PM.
