I wonder how much Dr Pepper Joyce got through writing Ulysses.
I'm not sure it was internationally available. But it'll have taken a power of laudanum.

Waste of time really, we will never win again.
That said Eins, Zwei, Drei was genius, and Sam Ryder would have won were it not for everything kicking off in Ukraine.

It's actually played off that cobbled together shenanigans.
Pure and simple. The whole thing is a popularity contest.
We come last. Draw your own conclusions.
It is, but it also reflects that we don't send "our best".
Let's look at the winner - Dara. She was an X-Factor Bulgaria finalist. She has had 13 No.1 Singles in Bulgaria and has a tonne of awards. She is Bulgaria's biggest pop star.
Now let's look at our entry. We sent an eccentric indie artist who has not had any single or album releases that have charted. His only entry into the charts ever has been his Eurovision entry.
Eurovision countries have heard of the UK. They know that we have artists like Ed Sheeran, Adele, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Elton John, Pauk McCartney, the Spice Girls,. Robbie Williams, Charli XCX, Calvin Harris, One Direction, JLS, Take That, Sam Fender, Rag'n'Bone Man, Mika, and so many more.
It's just possible that they think we are taking the piss by sending vague unknowns when they are sending their biggest selling artists. If we send one of our biggest artists and they get nul or 1 point, then we know there isa different problem. But whilst we send third rate singers singing second rate songs, we are not going to do well.

This really annoys me.
Aside from anything else the UK could put every no. 1 song in history into that competition and we'd still come last because it's the UK. Also EVERY song in that competition is terrible so how are they going to assess what's going wrong.
Tbf we did enter Engelbert Humperdink one year.
No wonder they don't like us.
I don't believe that.Aside from anything else the UK could put every no. 1 song in history into that competition and we'd still come last because it's the UK. Also EVERY song in that competition is terrible so how are they going to assess what's going wrong.
I don't believe that.
Sandie Shaw was a big pop star, Cliff Richard was a big pop star, Lulu was a big pop star, Brotherhood of man less big but still had 3 number one hits and were a well known big act, same for Bucks Fizz and Katrina and the Waves. The only exception was Bucks Fizz which was formed for the contest.
Bucks Fizz is kind of where we gave up. We had a lucky break with Katrina and the Waves. We've had several artists do very well (Imaani, Jessica Garlick, Jade Ewen (Sugababes), Sam Ryder) but only when we put forward genuinely top or popular talent with a top song.
